When talking about late-season tweaks, it’s not John Calipari who’s garnering the headlines. Rather it’s Kentucky Women’s Basketball Coach Kyra Elzy who has struck gold this time around.
Bringing Jazmine Massengill on as starting point guard and moving Chasity Patterson off the ball has been a stroke of genius. Massengill’s new role, being a true facilitator with a high basketball IQ, has allowed Patterson to fully utilize her scoring talents, thus opening up numerous possibilities for Kentucky on the offensive side of the ball.
But with every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Harlan County’s Blair Green–an obvious fan favorite–has relinquished her starting role (and minutes played) in this lineup shuffle. According to Coach Elzy, making this move was one of the most difficult coaching decisions she ever had to make.
But don’t despair, all you Blair Green fans out there. Coach Elzy had some over-the-top things to say about coaching Blair and her role moving forward. Video Courtesy UK Athletics
